Combat Phase

In this final installment of our 3-part series we give our thoughts on the hobby over the past year. Themes, business practices, media for games, fan support, etc. We rank our top 5 game systems played in 2014, our goals and (more realistic) resolutions anc close with the happy hobby wishlist.

We'll be taking next week off for the holidays and are recording at our megabattle on Dec. 28th so thanks everyone and have happy holidays and happy new year!

We have some brief news, Kenny did a 5000 pt Storm of Magic game then two days later tried out the new Warhammer magic rules - recapped.

We launch into a hefty year in review across the entire hobby. We look at how we received our games, formats, materials, release schedule, kickstarter, digital, mini board games, harbingers of things to come we didn't see at the time...

January - April 2014

There will be a part 2 and possibly 3.

Enjoy!

We talk news, hobby and games played. Our conversation tonight is addressing the debate on when Kickstarter is no longer a Kickstarter. That is, has the function and use of KS turned into pre-sales and how is this affecting alternative model lines vs. self-contained games? We look at the evolution of mini wargaming with crowd funding and discuss where it is now, lessons learned, and predictions. Worry not; it's not all negative, some back and forth.

Share your thoughts on your Kickstarter experiences with us on Facebook or Twitter.

We talk news, hobby, games played and Robert brings us up to speed on his amazing 24 hours of gaming marathon last week for Extra Life charity. Next we play the audio from David Guymer on his latest book for the Warhammer End Times: Kinslayer. Kenny has Glottkin at time of this posting but you'll have to wait until next week to hear about it, muhahaha!

Note: audio at beginning of Guymer interview was on old machine so there is a switch after about 5 minutes to much clearer and slightly louder audio, FYI. Don't abandon ship just yet.

Enjoy!

We talk news of nurgle and end times and hobby before games played includes Kenny's wrap-up of Screw City GT 3,000 Pts. Monster Mash! Then we are joined by Shawn Hook (40K group) and Ben Cone of WiscoDice (Fantasy) to talk advice on keeping a gaming group engaged and growing with the millions of factors affecting game play interests these days. Skype wanted to garble the end of Conesy's audio so we ended before that.

Then Kenny plays about 25-30 mins of audio from Screw City which includes post-game interview with round 1 opponent Sean Troy who won best general and a few chats along the way.
**Audio may be loud briefly at beginning of new file so FYI.

Enjoy!

We talk news, hobby, games played and launch into a discussion on tournament legal, limitations and saying screw all that and make it your game, even if you feel like the scene is pushing you in a direction you don't care for.
